Dominant housing stock: Victorian terraces, largely single-family again after decades as flats
Fulham has had two waves of refurbishment, and a lot of houses now run modern radiators on 1980s microbore. That combination blocks early: the radiators have the capacity, the pipes do not.
That matters because it changes what the likely answer is. A cold radiator in a 1930s semi on original pipework is a different problem from a cold radiator in a flat built in 2018, and the honest response to each is different too.
Work out whether you need one first
Three quick checks, before anyone quotes you anything:
- Cold at the top of the radiator? Air. Bleed it — costs nothing.
- Cold at the bottom, across several radiators? That's sediment, and it's a genuine case for a flush.
- One radiator cold all over? Nearly always a valve, not the system.

Getting a quote you can actually trust
The thing to be wary of in Fulham, as anywhere, is a fixed price quoted over the phone. Nobody can price this job without seeing the system — radiator count, pipework type and how bad it actually is all move the number. A quote given blind is either padded to cover the worst case or will change on the day.
Also ask what happens afterwards. A flush without inhibitor dosed correctly and a magnetic filter fitted is a job you'll be paying for again in five years.
